
Nashville-based pop singer-songwriter Ashe returned with her third album Willson on September 6. This album marks the first time Ashe has independently released an album after two LPs with Mom + Pop. “As I dipped my toe back into writing music again, it felt like each song was returning to myself,” Ashe says about writing Willson after a break from songwriting.

Death metal group The Black Dahlia Murder will release the new album Servitude on September 27 through Metal Blade Records. The band’s tenth LP is the first material to feature former rhythm guitarist Brian Eschbach as the lead vocalist after original vocalist Trevor Strnad‘s tragic passing in 2022. “We put in everything we had, and this is the album that felt right to make,” says guitarist Brandon Ellis.

British pop act Pale Waves recently shared the dreamy single “Thinking About You” (and its music video) from the group’s fourth album Smitten, which will arrive on September 27. Frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie describes “Thinking About You” as a song about when someone leaves and you can’t movie on. “You know you should and that it’ll be better for you in the long run, but it’s harder and more painful than it seems,” she explains.

Influential rock group The Jesus Lizard released the new album Rack on September 13 via Ipecac Recordings. The band also shared the music video for “Falling Down,” which was created in collaboration with visual artist Bill Barminski. Rack– The Jesus Lizard’s first album in 26 years- was made only because the band “thought it would be fun to make the record,” according to bassist David William Sims.

Pop and folk duo Flora Cash released the emotional single “My Ex Would’ve Left By Now” on September 5- along with a music video. The track will also be included on Flora Cash’s new album that will be available this fall through the band’s own label Flower Money Records. “We tried to capture the tension between recognizing our flaws and appreciating the (rare) love that endures despite them,” the duo says about the song.

Pop-rock quartet Instant Crush premiered the upbeat music video for “APOLOGY TOUR” earlier this month in anticipation of the band’s debut album I’M SORRY I DIDN’T BITE MY TONGUE, which will drop on October 25. An homage to the classic teen rom-com 10 Things I Hate About You, vocalist Megan Cannon describes the connection between the track and the movie: “It’s the quintessential coming-of-age film, and as Seattle natives, we wanted to honor our roots by celebrating our youth in a way that felt authentic and true to us.”

Indie singer-songwriter Eric Dash released the single “Good With It” last week ahead of his upcoming debut album Bystander, which will be available on October 11. Dash states that the track is “one of my favorite songs on the entire album. It’s an account of hope to find your person which I think is special and important.”

Psychedelic pop-rock band Vanarin released the groovy new track “I Don’t Know” in August through Italian label Dischi Sotterranei. This is the third single from the band’s upcoming third album, which will be released soon.

Singer-songwriter Monica Aben released her EP Everything I’ve Ever Known on September 6 after recently sharing the single “The Unknown.” “These songs weave together the story of me rediscovering the woman I was meant to be,” she says. “It’s about reconnecting with nature, trusting our instincts, and embracing a new reality of freedom and health.”

Indie rock act Human Potential shared the new single “Clear Notes for a New National Anthem” and announced that the album I Write Wedding Songs will be released on November 15 through What Delicate Recordings. Made with musician L. Skell, frontman Andrew Becker explains that the collaborative process “breathed new life into a song that I had considered somewhat moribund and transformed it into something fresh.”

Heavy electronic group Trip Villain shared the new song “Lowbender” and accompanying music video last week. Trip Villain describes the single as “a love letter to BASS, the heart and soul of Trip Villain’s sound.” Based in Brooklyn, the band combines doom metal and electronic music to make a danceable yet heavy sound.

Electronic artist and producer Will Sass will be debuting his first single “Alicia (feat. Alvin Risk)” on October 3. Inspired by Tame Impala and Kaytranada. “We were both feeling really inspired and it just felt like everything aligned perfectly for us to finally collaborate,” states Will Sass about his self-produced collaboration with vocalist Alvin Risk.
