Shoegaze’s resurgence is in full swing, and the promising four-piece Glixen is a full-on celebration of the genre’s sweet vocals and heavy distortion.

During the Phoenix band’s stop in Dallas last week at Club Dada, Glixen led a no-frills performance in support of the recent EP Guilty Pleasures. Vocalist/guitarist Aislinn Ritchie’s soft, delicate vocals were juxtaposed with droning guitars and Keire Johnson’s pounding percussion, as the audience was lulled into Glixen’s entrancing set.

Suzy Clue didn’t let the mood get too gloomy when she opened for Glixen. She let out the party as she joked and danced between songs and proved that shoegaze can be a good time.

The Minneapolis-based opener She’s Green laid down a dreamy version of indie rock and shoegaze- making the small Club Dada seem more expansive.

These three up-and-coming rock acts all brought a different attitude and mood, but felt connected with their commitment to the breathy vocals, fuzzy guitars, and intense emotions of shoegaze.
