Ari Aster‘s newest film Eddington will soon be hitting North American screens. A24’s latest is a black comedy/Western featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal as the fictional town of Eddington, New Mexico’s sheriff and mayor. Set during the beginning of the COVID pandemic, their feud sets off turmoil for the townspeople.

Eddington premiered at Cannes Film Festival this year, and will available in theaters around North America on July 18.


London-based Indian filmmaker Karan Kandhari‘s debut film Sister Midnight is now in select theaters around the US via Magnet Releasing. The dark comedy centers on Uma (Radhika Apte)- a small-town misfit who arrives in Mumbai and realizes she is not suited to be a housewife.

Sister Midnight premiered at Cannes Film Festival’s Director’s Fortnight and won the Best Film in the Next Wave award at Fantastic Fest.


Watermelon Pictures‘ poignant drama To A Land Unknown arrives in New York and LA on July 11, with a national roll-out slated for later this summer. Mahdi Fleifel‘s narrative feature focuses on Palestinian refugees (Mahmoud Bakri and Aram Sabbah) that hatch a dangerous plan to escape out of their hopeless environment in Athens.

After its premiere at the Director’s Fortnight program as part of Cannes Film Festival, the film had its North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival last year.


French pop musical satire Queens of Drama will be available via VOD in North America on July 15. Alexis Langlois‘ 2000s-inspired directorial debut about queer love follows the decades-long romance and turbulence between blooming pop sensation Mimi Madamour (Louiza Aura) and punk icon Billie Kohler (Gio Ventura).

The film had a world premiere at Cannes Film Festival before being selected as part of Toronto International Film Festival’s Next Wave program.


The darkly humorous French psychological thriller Misericordia is now available to stream through The Criterion Channel. Alain Guiraudie‘s newest film revolves around Jérémie (Félix Kysyl)- who returns to his hometown to attend his mentor’s funeral and becomes entangled in the lives of several locals.

After premiering at Cannes Film Festival in 2024, Misericordia garnered eight nominations at this year’s César Awards.
