When Garbage began over 30 years ago, the band’s sound was ahead of its time- alternative rock interspersed with samples, electronic beats, and Shirley Manson’s alluring voice.

Seeing the band blaze through different moments throughout its career at the Bomb Factory in Dallas only reinforced the resounding vigor of Garbage’s discography.

The night started off with Starcrawler’s fierce rock ‘n roll and 70s flair (both with clothing and music). Frontwoman Arrow de Wilde strutted across the stage, and the band’s energy was infectious.

Garbage’s stage design was minimal, with impactful yet minimal lighting proving that sometimes less is more.

The group played through several tracks from this year’s release Let All That We Imagine Be the Light, including the opener “There’s No Future in Optimism.” Garbage’s eighth album gets introspective, and Manson shared some vulnerability with the crowd.

Before “Bleed Like Me,” she shared her disgust about the ICE raids in Chicago, and also stated that her father had died a couple of days ago. Manson also said that this would be the band’s last headlining North American tour since touring isn’t financially sustainable for bands. Despite all of the negative news, Manson described how the concerts felt like a community.

The group played several songs from the debut record Garbage– closing the encore with “Stupid Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains.”

Near the end of the set, Manson said something that epitomizes Garbage’s career: “Don’t fucking be obedient!”
