The UK’s buzziest new indie band enchanted everyone during their performance at the Studio at the Factory in Dallas, Texas on March 22. Even though the group’s debut studio album Prelude to Ecstasy was just released in February, there’s no denying that The Last Dinner Party is much more than a trendy flash in the pan.

Vocalist Abigail Morris was mesmerizing as she twirled around the stage in a large red dress that was as theatrical as the music. The band’s powerful stage presence is impressive considering they formed only a few years ago in 2021.

The Last Dinner Party’s bombastic sound is filled out with orchestral instruments and choirs on the record, and the live experience still seemed such as grandiose. Though they didn’t have an orchestra on hand in a club venue, the five-member live band was still able to give a larger-than-life feel with their energetic performances and didn’t dial down.

Rock-oriented songs like “Sinner” and “My Lady of Mercy” sounded heavier live, and softer tunes such as “On Your Side” and “Gjuha” were beautifully arranged- allowing the vocals and lyricism to shine through.

The band’s early success will keep rolling this spring and summer as the band continues the rest of a North American tour and festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza.
