Despite being an unreasonably cold night in Dallas, the crowd still showed up eagerly to The Studio at the Factory last Thursday for a night of indie rock. Under the moniker of Soccer Mommy, Sophia Allison performed the majority of the songs from her fourth album Evergreen, which was released last year.

Soccer Mommy leaned into a dynamically diverse set- switching from chill indie rock to heartfelt stripped down moments, and then a solo performance of “Still Clean” from her 2018 album Still Clean.

Responding in jest to call outs and trading jokes with the audience about the competition between Houston and Dallas, Allison struck the right balance between engaging with the audience and creating a fulfilling set that spanned her entire catalog.

Hana Vu embraced a simple set up with minimal stage production, and it worked to her favor to emphasize the emotional resonance of her performance, especially selections from 2024’s full-length album Romanticism.

Soccer Mommy and Hana Vu were the perfect indie rock bill, and the crowd knew it too.
